However, Terme Slovenija is much more than just a destination for wellness tourism. The resorts have been designed with families in mind, offering facilities and activities aimed at ensuring children have just as much fun as their parents.

From wellness treatments to water parks, adventure playgrounds to cultural activities, Terme Slovenija is an all-in-one destination where relaxation, fun, and wellness go hand in hand.

Kid-Friendly Facilities and Activities

One of the major reasons Terme Slovenija is such a popular destination for families with children is the wide variety of kid-friendly amenities and activities available. Whether your children are toddlers or teens, they’ll find something to keep them entertained throughout your stay.

1. Water Parks and Pools

The heart of any family vacation at Terme Slovenija is the water park experience. Most of the resorts within the Terme Slovenija group feature expansive water parks, complete with thermal pools, slides, lazy rivers, and splash pads. These parks are designed to cater to all ages, from toddlers who can play in shallow pools to older children who will love the thrilling water slides and wave pools.

Spa for children and families offers water parks, complete with thermal pools, slides, lazy rivers, and splash pads.

For instance, Terme 3000 in Moravske Toplice has one of the biggest water parks in Slovenia, with swimming pools filled with healing black thermal water, which gives a unique feeling to swimming. The water park has indoor and outdoor areas, so families can enjoy the water regardless of the season. Water slides are exciting for older children while, on the other hand, toddlers will love the specially designed shallow pools and splash zones that ensure safety with supervision.

2. Adventure Parks and Playgrounds

Besides water parks, most Terme Slovenija resorts offer a large outdoor playground or adventure park that encourages kids’ imagination and active fun. The equipment varies from simple swings, climbing frames, etc., for younger kids to more adventurous obstacle courses for the older ones.

For example, Terme Ptuj provides an adventure park in the beautiful landscape where kids can have team-building exercises, obstacle courses, and outdoor adventures. This will help children relate to nature while also being physically active.

3. Animation Programs and Entertainment

Terme Slovenija resorts have daily children’s animation programs which give entertainment and educational activities with proper supervision. Such a program is ideal to let the parents take some rest knowing that their children are playing in a safe and healthy environment.

Animation programs comprise activities like arts and crafts, games in groups, thematic workshops, treasure hunts, and even mini discos where kids get to dance along to their favorite songs and even sing. These are great in that they do not only entertain but also offer kids the opportunity to bond socially and acquire new things.

Family Wellness and Relaxation

While Terme Slovenija children and families’ getaway is famous for its family-friendly services, the resorts also focus on wellness, which is good for both parents and children. The thermal waters in Slovenia are known for their healing properties, and many of the resorts have wellness centers that provide rejuvenating treatments for all ages.

1. Thermal Pools and Relaxation

Thermal baths form the crux of Slovenian culture, and Terme Slovenija encompasses some of the country’s very best thermal pools. It’s not just a place to rest, but also a destination where recreation can be experienced and cherished. The children enjoy the pools as kid-friendly ones, while parents unwind with a relaxing bath in hot mineral-rich waters. The special properties of thermal waters relieve stress, improve blood circulation, and contribute to general well-being, so they are perfect for family relaxation.

Terme Zreče offers an outdoor thermal pool with panoramic views of the mountains. This way, the family can relax and soak up the beneficial effects of water.

2. Wellness Treatments for Children

At Terme Slovenija resorts, wellness is not solely for adults. Some resorts offer specialized treatments for children, such as soft massages, relaxation techniques, and spa rituals that promote mindfulness and relaxation from a young age.

Terme Slovenija resorts offer specialized treatments for children, including gentle massages, relaxation techniques, and spa rituals that promote mindfulness and relaxation.

For younger children, gentle massages and baby spa treatments are often available that can help soothe colic, improve sleep, and promote relaxation. Aromatherapy, face masks, and skin treatments are some of the spa services available for older children and teenagers to introduce them to the world of wellness in a fun and age-appropriate way.

3. Family-Friendly Accommodations

Terme Slovenija offers a range of family-friendly accommodations. Many of the resorts have spacious family suites, in which parents and children can stay comfortably together. With all modern amenities, from kitchenettes for self-catering, these suites make staying with family feel more at home.

Also, most of the resorts have child-friendly services, like babysitting, kids’ clubs, and family concierge services to make sure families get everything they need for a peaceful stay.

Educational and Cultural Activities

Terme Slovenija is not just wellness and water fun. There are many educational and cultural activities available in the resorts, so children learn about history, nature, and Slovenia’s traditions.

1. Nature Exploration

Slovenia is famous for its amazing landscapes, and most of the resorts in Terme Slovenija are situated in beautiful locations close to nature attractions. Families can walk through nearby parks, go cycling, or take short hikes in Slovenia’s picturesque countryside. The children can learn about the local wildlife, plants, and the importance of conserving the environment.

2. Slovenian Folklore and Traditions

A Perfect Family Vacation Destination

In today’s fast-paced world, the pursuit of balance and relaxation has become paramount. As stress mounts and the demands of daily life take their toll, individuals are increasingly turning to various forms of leisure and wellness activities to rejuvenate their bodies and minds. Among these, swimming pool, sauna, and massage are a combination that stands out as timeless and effective means of achieving holistic well-being. In this article, you will step into the allure and benefits of these three cornerstones of indulgence and wellness.

Swimming Pools for a Refreshing Oasis

Swimming pools have long been synonymous with relaxation and recreation. From luxurious resorts to community centers and private residences, swimming pools provide a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sensation of weightlessness as one glides through the water induces a sense of calm and tranquility, melting away stress and tension.

When visitong swimming pool, sauna and massage, start with the sauna. This can help warm up your muscles and improve blood flow – which can improve your swimming performance and make soaking in the spa more effective. Time spent in the swimming pool relaxes you and promotes cardiovascular health, improves endurance, and enhances flexibility.

Beyond their recreational appeal, swimming pools offer a myriad of health benefits. Swimming is a low-impact exercise that engages multiple muscle groups, providing a full-body workout without putting strain on joints and ligaments. Whether it’s leisurely laps or invigorating aquatic exercises, time spent in the pool promotes cardiovascular health, improves endurance, and enhances flexibility.

Moreover, the therapeutic properties of water cannot be overstated. Hydrotherapy, which harnesses the healing properties of water for physical rehabilitation and relaxation, finds its perfect setting in a swimming pool. The buoyancy of water reduces pressure on the body, alleviating pain and promoting recovery from injuries.

In addition to its physical benefits, swimming also has a profound impact on mental well-being. The rhythmic movement and controlled breathing induce a meditative state, promoting mindfulness and stress relief.

The experience of floating weightlessly in the water offers a profound sense of freedom and serenity whether it’s a leisurely swim under the open sky or a moonlit dip under the stars.

Saunas and the Timeless Tradition of Heat Therapy

Dating back thousands of years, saunas have been integral to various cultures’ wellness practices, from the Finnish tradition of “sauna bathing” to the Turkish hammams and Japanese onsens. These heated chambers, typically lined with wood and heated with rocks or infrared technology, offer a unique form of heat therapy that promotes relaxation and detoxification.

Stepping into a sauna, one is enveloped in warmth, as the heat penetrates deep into the body, dilating blood vessels and increasing circulation. This process promotes the elimination of toxins through sweat, cleansing the body from within and leaving one feeling refreshed and revitalized.

Sauna bathing has many health benefits that include detoxification, increased metabolism, weight loss, increased blood circulation, pain reduction, antiaging, skin rejuvenation, improved cardiovascular function, improved immune function, improved sleep, stress management, and relaxation.

Beyond its detoxifying effects, sauna therapy offers a host of health benefits. Regular sauna sessions have been linked to improved cardiovascular health, reduced inflammation, and enhanced immune function. The heat-induced relaxation of muscles can alleviate tension and soothe aches and pains, providing relief from the stresses of modern life.

Moreover, saunas provide a sanctuary for mental relaxation and introspection. In the quiet solitude of the sauna, free from distractions, one can unwind and recalibrate, finding solace in the gentle embrace of heat. Whether it’s a solitary retreat or a shared experience with friends or loved ones, the sauna offers a sacred space for rejuvenation and renewal.

The Healing Touch of Massages

In the realm of wellness therapies, few experiences rival the indulgence of a massage. Dating back millennia, massage therapy has been practiced across cultures as a means of promoting healing and relaxation. Today, massages have evolved into a sophisticated art form, with a myriad of techniques tailored to address specific needs and preferences.

The benefits of massage extend far beyond mere relaxation. Through the manipulation of soft tissues, massage therapists can alleviate muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance range of motion. Whether it’s a deep tissue massage to release knots and adhesions or a gentle Swedish massage to promote relaxation, the therapeutic effects are profound.

The benefits of massage through the manipulation of soft tissues can alleviate muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance range of motion.

Moreover, massages offer a holistic approach to well-being, addressing not only the physical body but also the mind and spirit. The human touch triggers the release of endorphins, neurotransmitters that promote feelings of happiness and relaxation, fostering a sense of emotional well-being.

Beyond its immediate effects, regular massage therapy has been shown to have long-term benefits for both physical and mental health. From reducing stress and anxiety to improving sleep quality and immune function, the cumulative effects of regular massages are transformative, enhancing overall quality of life.

When to Visit a Swimming Pool, Sauna, and Massage

Choosing the right time to indulge in the bliss of swimming pool, sauna, and massage can significantly enhance their therapeutic effects. For the swimming pool, early mornings offer serene tranquility and invigorating exercise.

The crisp air, coupled with the refreshing water, sets a rejuvenating tone for the day ahead. Alternatively, late evenings provide a peaceful ambiance, ideal for unwinding after a long day’s work. The calming atmosphere fosters relaxation, allowing swimmers to float away their stress under the starlit sky.

Sauna sessions are best enjoyed during off-peak hours to relish the full benefits. Midday visits offer a revitalizing break amidst the day’s hustle, promoting detoxification and mental clarity. Conversely, evenings provide an opportunity to unwind and release tension accumulated throughout the day.

The soothing heat promotes muscle relaxation, fostering a sense of tranquility and inner balance. Similarly, scheduling a massage during quieter periods ensures undivided attention from therapists, amplifying the experience’s therapeutic effects.

Massage Therapy & Spa Treatments : Benefits of Sweating in a Sauna

Whether it’s a midweek escape or a weekend treat, a well-timed massage rejuvenates the body and mind, leaving one feeling renewed and invigorated. Timing is key when seeking solace and wellness in these rejuvenating retreats.

Wrapping It Up

In the pursuit of balance and well-being, swimming pools, saunas, and massages stand out as timeless and effective means of indulgence and wellness.

Whether it’s the refreshing embrace of cool water, the soothing heat of a sauna, or the healing touch of a massage, each offers a unique pathway to relaxation and rejuvenation.

As you navigate the complexities of modern life, make sure you don’t forget the simple pleasures and profound benefits of swimming pool, sauna, and massage as ancient rituals of self-care.

Apart from being known as a top destination where the senses get to bask in the beauty of nature, the hot springs and thermal baths in Slovenia in their scenic settings make the country a top spot for ultimate wellness and relaxation.

The Slovenian thermal baths and spas are known for their therapeutic benefits of stress relief, preventive care, and healing, letting you soak up Slovenian nature’s sheer wealth and benefit in ways you probably never even imagined.

The hot water used in these thermal spas helps relax the muscles while the dissolved natural minerals in them are known to prevent and treat different conditions and diseases.

While most spas use phrases such as hot springs and thermal springs, chances are they’re only using heated tap water that doesn’t qualify as real thermal springs.

Real thermal springs are those that are naturally heated by the geothermal processes of the Earth, emerging from the ground at higher temperatures compared to their immediate surrounding environment.

What are Thermal baths in Slovenia?

Thermal baths are pools featuring naturally heated water with specific temperatures and mineral properties meant to rejuvenate the body, revitalize the spirit, and calm the mind. But are hot springs and thermal baths just the same?

A thermal bath originates or comes from hot springs. Although hot springs are famous tourist destinations in countries including Hungary and Iceland, you can also find them in many rehabilitation clinics and spas.

The hot springs and thermal baths in Slovenia make the country a top spot for ultimate relaxation, besides well-known Hungary and Iceland.

Thermal waters from hot springs stimulate the immune system and promote detoxification, both of which are critical for healing.

The benefits of thermal waters are determined by the chemical composition and temperature of the water where the warm temperature of the water lets it hold more dissolved minerals compared to regular water which helps reduce stress and relax the muscles. Cold water, on the other hand, can tone the skin, promote blood circulation, and rejuvenate the body.

Thermal Baths and Their Benefits

Categorized under hydrotherapy, thermal baths in Slovenia serve different purposes and offer preventive treatments, healing, self-care, and wellness. More specific benefits include the following:

A Boost for the Immune System

Thermal waters can have a positive impact on the release of hormones and the immune system as a whole. This can be very beneficial for people suffering from respiratory diseases like allergies and asthma.

A Relief for Joint Pains

Thermal baths can also offer relief for joint pain linked to conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis. These baths can relax stiff joints, reduce inflammation, and increase blood circulation.

Visit thermal baths in Slovenia to relieve joint pain.

A Great Help for Mental Health

Thermal water can also lessen the symptoms of depression and anxiety which can lead to better quality of sleep. These waters can also cut down symptoms related to stress and enhance cognitive function, mood, and motivation.

An Improvement in Skin Problems

Thermal baths in Slovenia rich in minerals are also effective and helpful in treating skin conditions such as sunburn and eczema by improving skin texture and reducing inflammation. The water’s heat can also improve the dilation of blood vessels which results in healthier skin.

In addition, going on a digital detox as you enjoy and bask in the comforts of these thermal baths can enhance focus, uplift mood, and reduce stress by getting rid of technology distractions and promoting mindfulness.

Top Slovenian Hot Springs and Thermal Baths

Since time immemorial, mankind has indulged and benefited in the therapeutic thermal baths and hot springs in Slovenia which have become critical to the specific towns where they’re located.

The longstanding tradition has paved the way for 15 officially registered natural spas and health resorts, each basking in the Slovenian sun’s warmth. These towns and their natural spas and thermal baths provide the ideal blend of rejuvenation and adventure every time you’re in Slovenia.

We cannot explain why but many would have difficulty identifying Slovenia on a map, but we must be very clear about it: this country on the Adriatic is one of the greenest in the world, literally and metaphorically, so much so that it will leave you breathless. Precisely for this reason, health and well-being are the main tourist engines in Slovenia, from the mountains to the Mediterranean Sea, from caving to thermal treatments. Interested? Let’s try to give you some more details then.

Spas in Slovenia

One of Slovenia’s best kept secrets is its sensational spas and wellness centers, so if you think about a visit you can’t miss a similar experience. Nestled between Italy, Austria, Hungary and Croatia, small but beautiful Slovenia boasts a little bit of everything: a Mediterranean coast, a foothold in the Alps, crystal clear lakes and a fairytale island. The whole country can be crossed by car in just over two hours, so it is an ideal day trip or weekend trip if you are staying in the north-eastern Veneto of Italy, or want to extend your holiday in Austria, Hungary or Croatia. While summers are hot, expect cooler temperatures than in the southernmost lands of Italy and Croatia, especially in the north of the country, where Slovenia collides with the Alpine region of Central Europe. Blessed with natural hot springs, its coolest temperatures all year round and the gift of hospitality make Slovenia an ideal destination to immerse yourself in its pristine thermal water.

One of Slovenia’s best kept secrets is its sensational spas and wellness centers, so if you think about a visit you can’t miss a similar experience. Image Source: Thermana Laško

Activities in Slovenia besides the spas

Obviously the fastest way is the plane. Fly to the capital Ljubljana with the company of your choice: periodically you will find excellent offers with different companies. From here, you can choose how to get around, heading to the many natural attractions, such as Lake Bled or the thermal baths which are both easily accessible within a day. Any tourist destination, even the most popular one in Slovenia, will be as relaxing as it is picturesque. Do some standup paddleboard yoga on the lake or try a forest bath to calm your mind. There are also great hikes in the nearby Triglav National Park. Simply being in nature can do wonders for your health.

Warm sheaves of spruce tips are tapped on the back with a percussive rhythm during a relaxing mountain pine oil massage, while Carniolan honey is used in facials, scrubs, massages, and milk and honey baths.
After a day of exploring, you can easily decide to go and let yourself be pampered in one of the many hotels specialized in wellness, for example the Rikli. This distinctly Slovenian spa town was founded in the 19th century by Swiss naturopath Arnold Rikli, whose new health prescriptions included guests walking barefoot on dew-covered grass to improve circulation. The saunas and pools here span two floors, and the spa treatments use local ingredients. Warm sheaves of spruce tips are tapped on the back with a percussive rhythm during a relaxing mountain pine oil massage, while Carniolan honey is used in facials, scrubs, massages, and milk and honey baths. Need to add more or have you already booked?

Beekeeping has a long tradition here and Slovenia has even paved the way for a new type of tourism: beekeeping. Eco-friendly beekeeping routes foster appreciation for the world’s most important pollinator. You will be able to meet local beekeepers, visit beehives and learn how to extract honey. The sweet air of the hive is thought to strengthen the immune system and help with breathing problems, so you are encouraged to lie back in an armchair next to the buzzing hives and take long, deep breaths. Obviously then you will want to go back to the spa.

Blessed with natural hot springs, its coolest temperatures all year round and the gift of hospitality make Slovenia an ideal destination to immerse yourself in its pristine thermal water. Image Source: Thermana Laško

For some serious Slovenian hydrotherapy, head east. The largest concentration of wellness retreats in the country is found in the Pannonian thermal basin. Here are the Terme Zreče, where the mineral waters contain a high concentration of calcium, magnesium and hydrogen carbonate, which promote healing and reduce inflammation once absorbed through the skin.

Locally collected mountain peat and volcanic mud are also applied as a warm body wrap for detoxification. Terme Dolenjske Toplice has been highly regarded since the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, while the healing waters of Terme Olimia were used by the ancient Celts and Romans for medicinal purposes. With offerings from apitherapy to hydrotherapy, Slovenia is fast becoming one of the hottest new wellness destinations. Sometimes a strong dose of fresh mountain air is just what the doctor ordered.

Do you need anything else to convince you to visit Slovenia and its spas?

Soaking in hot water at the spa is great – anyone living near a spa is lucky (and a hot bath leaves the skin feeling soft, let’s not deny it). But can the thermal water contained in beauty products have the same effect on the skin? In other words, is it the heat of the tub that helps us or the water itself? Believe it or not, thermal water itself has some nourishing qualities for the skin (although it may not be the magical cure it is sometimes said to be).

What do we Mean by Thermal Water?

Thermal water is water drawn from natural hot springs. Contains minerals that have been shown to enrich the skin.

Immersion in thermal baths is known as balneotherapy (different from hydrotherapy, which consists of soaking in simple tap water.) It is thought that the benefits of balneotherapy come in part from the composition of the water itself and many centers exploit the beneficial properties of these natural gifts, for example the Thermana Laško spa resort.

Spa Thermana Laško is considered one of the most sophisticated wellness and spa centers in Slovenia

In balneotherapy, minerals have been shown to penetrate the skin and provide immediately visible, slower-releasing benefits. The most common soluble minerals include calcium, bicarbonate, silicates, iron compounds, sodium and magnesium salts, sulfur compounds and metals, along with trace elements such as selenium. There are various categories of thermal baths due to different types of thermal waters, for example rich in sulfate, bicarbonate, chloride and sulfide. The location of a spring plays a role in the effectiveness of a thermal water, as each spring has its own unique physical properties and chemical composition.

How Thermal Water Nourishes the Skin

The possibility of bathing in thermal waters has existed for centuries and is an ancient activity that inspired the modern idea of a spa. Thermal baths are an important cultural tradition all over the world, from Japan to Ecuador to Iceland. Thermal baths have been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. Many of the natural hot springs are rich in minerals such as sulfur, which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. This is why science has become interested in thermal water. Thermal baths have historically been used to relieve symptoms of conditions such as:

rheumatoid arthritis

osteoarthritis

ankylosing spondylitis

Psoriasis

Research suggests that bathing in warm mineral water impacts the body’s immune and hormonal systems, which can lead to anti-inflammatory, pain relieving, and antioxidant effects. These are also exciting perks of spa packages for seniors.

Thermal water has also been shown to help inflammatory conditions such as eczema and rosacea. Selenium-rich water, for example, has been used in balneotherapy for eczema and psoriasis for decades, he says, while the Dead Sea’s high levels of magnesium salts have been shown to be effective in treating psoriasis.

The Advantages of Thermal Water

Some relatively promising benefits of thermal water include:

Moisturize the skin

Some research suggests that using thermal water on the skin can make it feel softer, more supple and comfortable.

Thermal Water moisturize the skin

Help against UV damage

The minerals in thermal water appear to have antioxidant properties that some studies suggest help neutralize free radicals and possibly reduce the risk of sunburn.

Reduces inflammation

Thermal waters have been shown to calm irritation from harsh skin treatments such as retinoids and reduce skin inflammation in eczema.

Balance the microbiome

Some studies suggest that thermal water helps balance the microbiome (or the levels of healthy and unhealthy bacteria that naturally live in the skin) and reduces inflammation in people with skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Things Thermal Water does not Help with

Some spas claim that baths treat a number of health conditions, such as chronic digestive diseases, constipation, diabetes, gout, and liver problems.

Although thermal water likely has benefits for the body affecting these conditions, there is no definitive scientific evidence to prove these benefits.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DRfmVBLKKQ

Steam baths were traditionally recommended as a treatment for gout. Some research suggests that hot thermal baths can improve circulation and lower blood sugar levels in obese people with diabetes. These benefits are thought to be due to high temperatures but are unconfirmed and vary from person to person.

However, one thing is certain: water spa has many benefits, come and discover them at

Thermana Laško spa resort.

Are you wondering if swimming pools for children with or without thermal water are worth it? The answer is a resounding yes! Read more …

When you visit Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, you will discover for yourself why this is dubbed to be one of Europe’s most prized hidden treasures. The rich and alluring history of this gem of a city, the green surroundings, friendly locals, and stunning architecture are just some of the many reasons why more and more visitors flock to Ljubljana every single year.

Ljubljana’s streets are dotted with restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can get a taste of the country’s cuisine and have an up-close and personal interaction with the locals. While there are many other reasons to pay a visit to Ljubljana, below are the top reasons to explore the city at least once in your whole life.

The Location

The central location of Ljubljana is what makes this city the perfect headquarters during your Slovenian escapade. From the city, most if not all of Slovenia’s tourist attractions are accessible through a short drive in a car. If you want to enjoy dipping in the Adriatic Sea, it will only take you one hour and a half to get there

Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia

During winter, Ljubljana is only a two-hour drive to reach Kranjska Gora Ski Center where you can indulge in skiing on the gorgeous ski slopes. If you want to get to the country’s eastern part, such as the Murska Sobota, it will not take you over two hours driving a car. Bled, which is among the most recognizable tourist attractions in Slovenia is just 30 minutes away from the city of Ljubljana.

The History

If you will visit Ljubljana, you will have the chance to get a glimpse of its outstanding history. People who lived in pile dwellings first inhabited Ljubljana Marshes during 2,000 BC. Not long after, Ljubljana, named Emona back then, was among the Roman Empire’s most important cities.

Emona is the Roman predecessor of Ljubljana

To this day, you can still feast your eyes on artifacts that came from that era when it was still ruled by the Romans. The architecture in the city center’s older part, as well as the narrow streets, showcases the bits and pieces of medieval times. When you visit Ljubljana, it will seem like historical traces can be seen no matter where you look.

Galleries and Museums

The galleries and museums in Ljubljana is one of the best ways to discover the history, tradition, and culture of Slovenia. The National Gallery serves as the home to the best art of the country from the 13th century to the first half of the 20th century. Here, visitors can admire notable works of some of the most prominent painters such as Ivana Kobilica, Rihard Jakopič, and Ivan Grohar.

University of Ljubljana

The Modern Art Gallery has two different locations for its exhibits. The small gallery Kapelica hosts global modern investigative art in the form of live art events, theoretically-reflective lectures, and spatial setups. The Slovenian Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of Slovenia are housed in one building located near Tivoli Park. The city’s guests can explore over 80 galleries and museums during their visit.

Parks

Parks in Ljubljana are considered as the city’s green oases. The most popular and biggest park in the city is called Tivoli Park. Students who want to hang with their friends choose Zvezda Park, which is located at the heart of the city. There are also other smaller parks including Memorial Park Navje, Park Tabor, and Hrvaski Park, where visitors and locals may stop for a moment and sit on one of the benches.

Ljubljana Park Tivoli

They can also take a few minutes to relax. Ljubljana Botanical Garden has thousands of various subspecies and species. Established in year 1810, a walk through in this park is a must for all nature lovers out there.

Cafes and Restaurants

When it comes to food in Ljubljana, it’s actually known to be diverse and delicious. Stopping at one of the restaurants in the city will give you a chance to be familiar with the dishes such as Kremna Rezina, Deer Goulash, Soca Trout, and Kranjska Klobasa. Even if majority of the restaurants offer some vegetarian options in the menu, there are also restaurants in the city that specialize in serving vegan and vegetarian food. The selection of the restaurants offering delicious food from various parts of the world is now more diverse. Many Mexican, Brazilian, Indian, Japanese, and Middle Eastern cuisines are also being served in Ljubljana.

Ljubljana food tour and best shopping

Slovenians enjoy drinking coffee and it’s no different in Ljubljana. The beautiful city is full of cafes where locals meet with their friends and enjoy coffee while they chat. In Slovenia, it’s a renowned way to meet your friends for coffee and catch up for hours. A lot of cafes in the city are situated at the river bank of Ljubljanica. A perfect place to sit down is the outside seating area.

Music and Architecture

Ljubljana is also a city of music. There’s always a musical event happening in the city any time of the year or any day of the week. Kino Siska hosts contemporary musicians from different genres and considered as the center of urban culture.

Open air events in Ljubljana: Concerts on a boat

When it comes to the architecture in Ljubljana, it’s a mix of several styles. Even if the buildings look different sometimes, they complement one another and work well as a whole. Alleys and buildings in the old part of the city center of Ljubljana still shows some signs of medieval architecture. In the rest of the city, the predominant architectural styles are Vienna Secession and Baroque. A lot of essential structures and buildings in Ljubljana were designed by Jozef Plecnik, the most popular architecture of Slovenia.

Shopping

The city of Ljubljana is full of shops offering international and local brands. Fashionistas may find trendy wear in Galerija Emporium, a luxury department store. There are also boutiques that are owned by some local fashion designers. Ljubljana’s arranged windows of small shops are inviting and offering something for everybody. Some of the goods that you may find fascinating in Ljubljana shops are natural beauty products, unique gifts, art, jewelry pieces, Slovenian food delicacies, and handcrafted souvenirs.
